こんにちは。東京で押し花レッスンやワークショップを開催しているニルソン絵理です。
2016年から押し花を習い始め、2021年に押し花インストラクターの資格を取得しました。
押し花のレッスンや作品を通して、押し花の美しさをより多くの方に届けていきたいと思っています。
これまでは、米国にあるミシガン州立大学のアジア研究センター、都内にある大学の国際センター、茨城県国際交流協会等に勤務し、国際交流、日米姉妹州プログラム、日本文化、海外の文化、留学等に係る様々なプログラムやイベント等を企画、調整し、コーディネーターとして国内学生や留学生、在住外国人、米国人を対象に15年程担当してきました。都内大学でのプログラムでは、お能や居合道、染色家、蒔絵師、落語家等のプロの方や生け花、茶道の先生、和菓子職人の方と国内学生や留学生を対象に日本語、英語でワークショップを企画、開催。押し花ワークショップも留学生を対象に英語で実施した経験があります。
国内学生、留学生の双方を対象としたワークショップ、米国での日本文化イベント企画、説明会やオリエンテーションの経験等を活かし、今後、押し花レッスンやワークショップにおいて活かしていきたいと思っています。
日本人の方だけでなく、外国人の方にも体験していただけるよう英語でのレッスンやワークショップも日本語と同様に開催します。お部屋に、押し花を飾ってみてはいかがですか？お庭で育てたお花や、お花屋さんで見かけた素敵なお花を押し花作品にすることができます。結婚式のブーケやプレゼントでもらった記念の花束等も、フレームに入れて飾ることができます。

Hi, my name is Eri. I started to learn the art of pressed flowers, “oshibana”, in 2016 and finally got a certificate as a professional pressed flower instructor in 2021. I’m pleased to announce the official start of my artistic career. Through lessons and my own pressed flower art works, I would love to promote how beautiful pressed flower art is to people all over the world!
I have a lot of experience working with people from different cultures. I have worked at the international offices of several universities in Tokyo, the Ibaraki Prefectural International Association, as well as the Asian Study Center of Michigan State University, USA. For 18 years I have worked with planning, coordinating and organizing a variety of programs, such as exchange programs between the US and Japan, study abroad and cultural programs for Japanese culture study, for both Japanese and international students.
I have been incharge of planning and organization of several programs and workshops to introduce Japanese culture for both Japanese students and international students. I worked with professionals of Japanese culture and arts such as Noh, Iaido, the art of dyeing clothes, Maki-e (Japanese lacquer), Rakugo, Ikebana, tea ceremony, Wagashi (Japanese traditional sweets). I have also held my own pressed flower art workshop for international students in English.
I now hope to use the experience I've gained from organizing workshops, planning events, as well as attaining my certificate for teaching English and Japanese, in my pressed flower art workshops and lessons.
I’m looking forward to promote the art of pressed flowers to many people, both to Japanese and to people from all over the world. Why don't you try pressedflower with Japanese flowers and decorate the work in your home? It would be very nice memory of Japan!

　　　押し花とは？ What is the art of the pressed flower “Oshibana”?

お花の習い事というと、多くの方はフラワーアレンジメントや生け花を思い浮かべるでしょう。そして、押し花と聞くと、押し花のしおりやはがきを思い浮かべる方は多いのではないでしょうか。私も友人に自分の作った作品を初めて見せたとき、「押し花ってこんな風になるの？押し花のイメージを超えているね！こんなに素敵になるんだ。」と言われて、驚かれたことが度々ありました。　
押し花作品は、お花屋さんで見つけた自分の好きなお花、お庭で育てたお花を使って、またプレゼントされた花や記念日のブーケ等を、乾燥や密封の技術を施して長期間残すことができます。標本として江戸時代から始まった押し花は、日本文化の一つとして、そして日本の植物を使った贈り物として海外の方にも喜ばれるかもしれません。
押し花作品を取り入れて素敵なお部屋の空間を作り出してみませんか？絵画とはまた違った自然ならではの雰囲気があります。美しい押し花作品を様々な形で、皆さんにお届けするのを楽しみにしています。

In Japan, when talking about art made with flowers, most people will think about flower arrangement or “Ikebana”. When they hear the word “OSHIBANA”, many people will think of simple bookmarks or post cards.
When I showed my pressed flower art works to my friends, many people were surprised and exclaimed “Is this pressed flower art? I didn’t think pressed flowers could be such a beautiful art form!”
When we create framed pressed flower art, we can use our favorite flowers, whether we bought them at the flower shop, raised them in the garden or were given them as a present. We can preserve the beauty of flowers for a long time with special techniques such as drying and sealing preservation techniques.
During the Edo era(1603-1868), the art of pressed flowers became popular in Japan, and it was used for preservation of leaves and flowers. Pressed flower works with Japanese flowers is one of Japanese old traditional cultures, and a pressed flower art using Japanese plants could be a nice gift from Japan.
Why don’t you try decorating your room with pressed flower art and create a pleasant atmosphere? Because the pressed flower art is made from nature itself, it creates a different atmosphere from oil paintings.
